Karen L. Hedine is President and a member of the Board of Directors of Micronics, Inc., a leading provider of next generation molecular diagnostic tests that provide results where and when the information is most critical, including at the patient’s bedside, in hospitals, ERs, or deployed for use in the field. Ms. Hedine joined Micronics in 2001 to spearhead business development efforts and was appointed President three months later. Under her direction, Micronics has evolved from a little-known research and development company to a globally recognized, revenue-generating products and services business. Micronics’ clients have included government agencies, Fortune 100 companies, leading academic and national laboratories, and cutting-edge start-up ventures worldwide.
Ms. Hedine has over 25 years of experience in the biotechnology industry, with international expertise in global alliance formation, technology licensing, strategic management, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate operations. She has served in executive positions for a diverse range of biotechnology companies – including those in drug discovery, cosmeceuticals and pharmacogenomics – headquartered in Canada, UK and Germany. She has extensive business development experience worldwide.
Ms. Hedine earned her bachelor of arts degree in English with a minor in foreign language (Russian) from the University of Washington. She then obtained a master’s degree in Personnel Administration from Indiana University. She served as past chairperson of the Washington State Biotechnology and Biomedical Association, and is actively involved in community affairs and global health initiatives.
