Content Creation and Proof of Concept Trials of Weight Management, Pain Management, and Youth Smoking Cessation

Focus:

To adapt and test a smartphone-based platform to help individuals manage weight, manage chronic pain, and for smoking cessation in youth.

Anticipated Impact:

Inexpensive, highly effective health interventions that leverage a low-cost platform.

Abstract:

Previous LSDF support helped launch a tobacco smoking cessation smartphone app that is now successfully marketed. The same approach, based on accepting urges and cravings, then committing to not acting on them, will be implemented in the smartphone-based application platform for managing weight and for managing chronic pain.  These will be tested in small proof of concept human trials.  In addition, the content of the successful but adult-oriented smoking cessation app will be customized for youth.
